World Sinologists Visiting Scheme

The World Sinology Center officially launches the 2026 Residency Program for Overseas Sinologists and Scholars. To promote cultural dialogue via Chinese studies, deepen China-foreign academic exchanges, and build a global hub for Sinological cooperation and cross-cultural engagement, we sincerely invite global experts and scholars dedicated to Sinology and Chinese studies to join us in exploring new insights into Sinology and advancing civilizational coexistence.

A Number of Resident Scholars

具体合作方式与申请渠道如下:

I. Eligibility Requirements

1. Senior translators engaged in translation work on China-related topics, with representative translated works;

2. Researchers focusing on fields related to Sinology and Chinese studies, holding a doctoral degree;

3. Authors currently writing monographs or articles related to China, with representative works;

4. Scholars who have formulated clear China research plans and need to rely on the Center’s resources to conduct in-depth research or advance projects;

5. Aged 25-65, in good physical and mental health, and abiding by Chinese laws and regulations.

II. Support and Guarantee

1. International Airfare (Economy Class): For senior experts with profound academic qualifications, significant research achievements, and extensive influence in the international Sinology field, after comprehensive evaluation, round-trip international airfare to China during the residency period will be provided; other applicants shall bear their own airfare;

2. Accommodation Guarantee: Free accommodation rooms with complete supporting living services will be provided to meet the daily living needs during the residency period;

3. Office Support: Independent offices, shared office areas, and basic office facilities such as internet, office equipment, and meeting rooms will be provided;

4. Project Cooperation: Resident translators will be given priority to be recommended for participating in the translation projects of Chinese classics and excellent contemporary works;

5. Publishing Support: Priority will be given to supporting the translation of resident scholars’ academic works into Chinese, and assistance will be provided for their publication and distribution in China;

6. Academic Exchange: Support will be provided for resident scholars to hold activities such as academic workshops and thematic seminars;

7. Achievement Dissemination: Exclusive Sinology open courses will be recorded for each resident expert, and relying on diverse communication platforms, it will help their academic viewpoints and research achievements reach a broader international stage;

8. Living Allowance: Resident experts who conduct cooperative research or participate in relevant projects with Beijing Language and Culture University will receive additional living allowance support.

Ⅲ. Application Method

(I) Application Materials

2. Personal academic resume;

3. Scanned copy of the first page of the passport.

(II) Submission Method

Please send the electronic versions of all application materials to: xudonghao@blcu.edu.cn

(III) Application Deadline

Applications are accepted year-round, and residency arrangements will be made in the order of application submission.

IV. Selection and Notification

The Center will establish a review committee to conduct anonymous review of application materials in accordance with the principles of “fairness, impartiality, and openness”. The selection results will be notified to applicants via email. The residency period can be flexibly negotiated based on the applicant’s research plan; in principle, a single residency period is 7-30 days, and an extension can be applied for under special circumstances (with a maximum extension of no more than 2 months).
